Just three days before Christmas, Dan R. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania noticed his furnace making a funny noise.
“Talk about the worst timing for heating trouble,” Dan joked. “But hey, isn’t that always the way things go?”
Since he had a plan from HomeServe for about five years, Dan didn’t stress and just picked up the phone. HomeServe got right on it and sent out Hillard Plumbing and Heating, one of their local and reliable network contractors. Bob, the owner, rolled up his sleeves, took a look, and found the furnace’s inducer motor was the issue. Fortunately, he already had the part handy in his shop. Before long, Bob had the new motor installed and the heat humming happily again.
A couple months later, in late February, the furnace decided to surprise Dan and his wife in the middle of the night with a brand-new noise—a loud buzzing alarm that jolted them right out of bed. This one didn’t sound anything like before, so Dan picked up the phone and called HomeServe again. Just like last time, Hillard Plumbing and Heating came to the rescue. Turns out, this time the blower motor was the culprit and needed replacing.
Dan didn’t have to sweat the cost this time either—his heating system repair plan had him covered and saved him over $3,000 combined.
He first heard about HomeServe from Duquesne Light, his local utility. He already had sewer line, water line and water heater plans from HomeServe, so adding that heating coverage just a couple years ago turned out to be a real win.
"I trusted Hillard and have no complaints about the process from start to finish," Dan said. "The repair plan definitely accomplished what I would hoped it would when the time came to need it."
