How HomeServe Helped Tackle a Plumbing Issue

Jack G. from Cary, North Carolina, noticed some unusual plumbing issues in his home. First, his toilet started having trouble flushing and seemed on the verge of overflowing. Then, water began backing up through his kitchen sink. Having experienced clogs in his sewer line the year before, Jack suspected the problem was deeper and knew he needed it checked out. Thankfully, Jack had enrolled in a HomeServe sewer line repair plan, which he’d first heard about through his gas company, Enbridge. That decision turned out to be a smart move.

Jack wasted no time reaching out to HomeServe for help. They quickly arranged for a trusted contractor, PipeTechs Plumbing, to come by and take care of the problem. The team at PipeTechs started by trying to clear the line using a snake, but the blockage proved to be more serious. After returning with high-powered equipment and a camera to inspect the line, they found that tree roots had grown into the pipe and caused significant damage, including a break.

Jack had a pre-planned trip out of the country during this time, but he didn’t need to worry about the repair process while he was away. PipeTechs handled everything from start to finish, replacing ten feet of the damaged sewer line and restoring everything to working order, which saved Jack more than $2,800 in the process.. Both HomeServe and Jack’s neighbors kept him up to speed on the progress, and when he got back, his sewer line was functioning smoothly again.

Several years prior, when Jack learned of HomeServe’s optional repair plans through a notice from Enbridge Gas, he realized it would likely be a smart investment to keep his home in working order should something go wrong.

“I am grateful that Alfredo, the plumber with PipeTechs, advocated for us and got the appropriate equipment on scene to properly diagnose the issue,” said Jack. “Everybody was fantastic, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome.”

“It didn’t seem like a lot of money for protection against things that can – and did – go wrong in a 30-year-old home like mine,” said Jack. “The experience with HomeServe is always positive from start to finish.”
